Port Washington Squeaks By Keene In Final 10 Seconds 45-44 (11-20-54)

Little Denver Glazer of Port Washington (2-0) stole the ball from a Keene dribbler with less than 10 seconds remaining in the game at Keene last night and layed up a two-pointer that gave the Purple Riders a thrilling victory over the host Cardinals. Keene, inaugurating a new gymnasium, had forged the one-point lead with a half minute remaining as Jack Patterson dumped in a free throw. Glazer's bucket gave Coach Bray Toot's Riders their second victory in as many starts. Thrown off stride by the spacious floor, Port Washington managed a 11-11 first quarter deadlock, but trailed by 23-18 at half time before taking over the lead 35-31 at the three-way mark. The Cardinals slowly trimmed the lead and finally went ahead on Patterson's throw only to have the Riders pull the game out of the fire. Denver Glazer's winning basket was his only one of the night as Paul Frank led the victors with 15 points and Jack Patterson and Bob Bailey each caged 14 for the losers. It was a sweep as the Port Washington Reserves beat the Keene Reserves 44-30.
