Defensive strategy paid off for Coach Bray Toot of Port Washington (1-2) (4-3) last night as the Purple Riders invaded Dellroy (4-5) and handed the host Blue Jets a setback. Stepping outside league competition, the Purple Riders led all the way as they recorded their fourth victory as against three reversals for the campaign. With Tom Jones and Paul Frank showing the way and Lynn German of Dellroy the only opponent offering much scoring competition, Port Washington posted quarter leads of 11-8, 25-21, and 39-33 en route to the triumph. Tom Jones concluded with 21 points with Paul Frank right behind on 20 while Lynn German topped the losers with 17 markers. The hot Port Washington Reserves (6-1) beat the Dellroy Reserves 34-28.
