A full slate of three games will open the 33rd annual Tuscarawas County Class B Basketball tourney at memorial Hall here Tuesday night with Strasburg, Midvale and Tuscarawas going into the meet as the top-favored teams while Port Washington, Stone Creek and Baltic are tagged as "darkhorses". The Tuscarawas Broncos, defending champions in the tourney, will not see action on the first night, but the Broncos will have an interest in the opening game since they are scheduled to meet the winner on Wednesday night.

PANTHERS MEET BOLIVAR

Stone Creek's Panthers and the Bolivar Cardinals will get the tourney started at 6:30, Tuesday night when they tangle for the second time this season. The Panthers defeated Bolivar 70-60 in that meeting, but were forced to hustle by an improving Bolivar club. Port Washington's Purple Riders, rated as the "hottest" team in the circuit during the 1955 portion of the campaign, will meet the Dundee Bulldogs in the second game on opening night. The Riders, who have won nine of 11 games in the 1955 campaign, defeated Dundee 63-44 in a regular-season game. Port's only two defeats since December 21st, when it lost to Stone Creek 71-70, were at the hands of Tuscarawas 76-55 and 55-54.

MIDVALE IN 3RD GAME

The third contest on tap Tuesday night has Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates colliding head on with the runnerup Midvale Blue Devils, another team which has been improving through the second half of the regular season. Midvale nicked the Pirates 47-45 in an early-season meeting, but the Blue Devils have won seven and lost only to Stone Creek and Strasburg in the 1955 part of the schedule while the Bucs have been on the skids, winning only three of nine. Dors to Memorial Hall will open at 5:30 Tuesday night with a capacity crowd explected to be on hand for the opening-night firing.
