TUSCARAWAS - Pitchers Brent Lehigh (1-0) and Phil Johnson (0-1) combined 2 hit pitching to give Tuscarawas baseballers (1-1) a victory over visiting Lakeland (4-2) yesterday. It was the 2nd straight loss for the Red Raiders. Both Bronco hurlers pitched out of trouble several times as 8 bases on balls provided a few scoring threats Lakeland could not take advantage of. Tusky batters were paced by Rich Schumaker, who drove in a pair of runs with a ringing double (2) and Ray Gibbes with a bases loaded 2 bagger (1) to drive in 3 runs. Phil Simmons also contributed 2 singles (2).
Denny and Jay Luyster punched out singles for the losers' only base hits. Luyster, starting hurler for Lakeland was followed by Mallernee and Jeff Bachtel.
