GNADENHUTTEN - The Port Washington Purple Riders (2-0) (4-1) rocked behind the 2-hitter of Jeff Huston (2-1) to also advance to the Class A Sectional semi-finals on Thursday.  The Riders collected 9 hits in their decision over Head Coach Gary Caviness' Lakeland Red Raiders (0-1) with Huston leading the way on a triple (1) and 2 singles (4).  Lakeland put together 2 runs without a hit in the 1st inning on 2 walks by Huston, a force play and a sacrifice.  Port Washington scored 3 runs in the 1st half of the 2nd when Jim McCune singled (2), Pat McCune walked and Bob Sauerbrey blasted a double (1) to left, scoring both runners.  Greg Bender then singled (2) to drive in Sauerbrey with the go-ahead run.

The Purple Riders then added another run in the third, 2 in the 5th and 3 in the 6th to clinch the victory for Huston.  Bill Perkins and Clarence Green were the only Red Raiders to get hits, the former getting a single in the 2nd and Green popping one in the sixth.  Huston allowed only 4 walks, while striking out 8 in his 2nd tourney victory.  Following Huston in the hitting department were Jim McCune with 2 singles (3) and Sauerbrey with a double.  Denny Luyster started for Lakeland and was charged with the loss.  He allowed 5 hits and issued 3 passes, while fanning six.  Relief hurlers Tom Mallernee and Jeff Bachtel were charged with 4 hits in the final 3 frames and the Raiders committed 6 errors.
