67 - Strasburg Shades Tusky 6-5 (4-28-67)








STRASBURG - The The Strasburg Tigers (4-1) came up with 3 runs inthe 3rd, one in the 5th and 2 in the 6th yesterday en route to a 1 run victory over the Tuscarawas Broncos (1-4) in regular season play.  Tom Ferris (2-0) was the winning pitcher as he scattered 8 hits.  Art (Butch) Reed (0-1) was tagged for the loss with Bill McCauley (0-0) taking over in the 5th stanza.

John Studer, Tiger 1st baseman hammered a double (1) and triple (3), while teammates Bob Welling (1), Gary Feller (4) and Mike Donahue (2) each collected doubles.  Broncos Bob Schumaker, poled a 2 bagger (1), Art (Butch) Reed collected a pair of them (2) and Jim McFee added a triple (1).  Strasburg returns to action on Monday in the Class A Sectional tourney against Gnaden (4-1) on the Indians' field.

NOTE:  The 2nd game of the Tuscarawas County Baseball Class A Tournament on Monday will pit Port Washington (4-1) against the Hiland Hawks.  The 1st contest (Strasburg-Gnaden) will be carried by WBTC (1540) and it will follow with reports every 15 minutes on the 2nd tilt.
