67 - Scio One-Hits Midvale 3-0 (4-25-67)
GNADENHUTTEN - Class A Sectional tournament play here yesterday was highlighted by Scio's Paul Baker's one-hit pitching against Midvale (0-1) (2-3) in the nightcap. Pitcher Tom Booth (2-1) was the only player to get by Baker, collecting a single (1) in the 1st inning. Baker then settled down until the final inning, when he walked Booth. An error by Jim Allensworth put 2 runs on base with only one out, but Bill Belba fanned and Kenny Morrison popped up to end the contest. Baker issued only 1 walk and struck out 9 Blue Devils. Booth fanned 4 while giving up 9 hits and 2 walks. Rick Downs and Rick White were the hitting stars for the Panthers. Downs had 2 triples and a double, while White had 2 hits which drove in 2 runs. Eddie Edwards also collected a pair. Scio (1-0) was charged with 2 errors.
