67 - Malvern Crushes Garaway 12-6 (4-25-67)

SUGARCREEK - Malvern's big bats boomed in the 2nd tilt.  It plated 4 runs in the 2nd inning,  but Garaway (0-1) (1-4) put one on the scoreboard in its half of the 2nd and went ahead in the 3rd with 5 runs on 7 walks and singles by Tim Miller (1) and Ralph Sundheimer (1).  The wild streak sealed the fate of Malvern hurler Jim Yockey, a strong lefthanded Freshman who looks like a real comer.  Yockey yielded to Bill Munroe, who also was wild for an inning before settling down, only to lose his touch in the 7th after Green Hornets (1-0) had gone ahead.  Yockey shifted back on the hill from 1st base to relieve Munroe.  The pair limited Garaway to 6 singles, 2 by shortstop Fred Yoder (2).

Bob Farver (0-3) of Garaway lasted 6 innings before giving way to Errol Miller (0-0) in the seventh.  Pounding out extra base blows for Malvern were Dave Early, Tom Romano and Mike Campbell, each with a triple.  Campbell, Jim Yockey and Munroe each had doubles.
