67 - Garaway Belts Midvale 8-1 (4-11-67)
SUGARCREEK - Garaway High School's baseballers (1-3) came up with 8 runs in the first 3 innings to down Midvale (0-1) by 7 runs yesterday in a game called after 4.5 innings because of cold weather. Midvale pitcher Pete Belba (0-1) was the victim of the Pirate attack as he surrendered 4 hits and 6 walks in the 2.3 innings on the mound. Tom Booth (0-0) silenced the Garaway bats the rest of the way by giving up only 2 more singles.
Ken Snyder drove in 2 runs in Garaway's big inning, while Bob Farver contributed a double (1). Errol Miller chipped in 2 for 2 in the hitting department, while Mike DeMattio banged out a pair of hits for the Devils. A total of 5 errors was credited to the cold weather as Garaway committed 2 and the losers 3.
