The die is cast for the semi-final round in the 37th Annual Tuscarawas County Class "A" League Basketball Tournament next Friday night. It will be Midvale (17-1) against Gnadenhutten (14-6) at 7:30PM and Tuscarawas Valley (18-1) against Garaway (13-8) at 8:45. All were seeded for the 9-team tournament that now has seen Baltic (10-11) , Strasburg (6-13), Port Washington (3-17), Tuscarawas (6-12) and Stone Creek (13-9) fall by the wayside. Gnadenhutten and Garaway qualified last night before a screaming crowd at Memorial Hall. Gnadenhutten won the rubber match of the season's activity against Stone Creek 56-53, while Garaway waltzed to an 87-49 triumph over Port Washington. The third match between Gnaden and Stone Creek proved to be another thriller, and probably was the best game on the county tourney card thus far. In the three tussles, only a total of seven points separated the two teams. Gnadenhutten won 62-60 on its home court December 19, while the Panthers took a 76-74 decision on its hardwoods February 3. Garaway met some resistance in early action of its game with Port Washington, but once rolling, was never stopped.
