A shot at undisputed possession of second place, which also carries an opportunity for the title, will be at stake when Tuscarawas County Class "A" League teams are involved in their usual 4-game Friday night program. The big game will be the meeting of Gnadenhutten and Tuscarawas Valley on the latter's court. Both are once-beaten and must win tomorrow night to retain any hopes of gaining at least a title share with unbeaten Midvale. Gnadenhutten enters its final loop test with a 6-1 record, while Tusky Valley is 4-1 in circuit activity. Midvale, meanwhile plays host to Strasburg's Tigers in quest of its seventh straight loop victory. The Tigers, although only 1-5 in league warfare, still are mighty dangerous. Other games on the rapidly-declining league slate are Stone Creek (2-4) at Garaway (3-3) and Port Washington (0-5) at Tuscarawas (1-4). On the basis of earlier season matches between the respective teams, Tusky Valley, Midvale, Garaway and Tuscarawas should come out victorious. Tusky Valley dumped Gnadenhutten 74-50 December 2, Midvale shaded Strasburg 66-65 December 9, Garaway whipped Stone Creek 67-48 December 2 and Tuscarawas toppled Port Washington 67-55 December 16. All games were played on the losing teams's court. Gnadenhutten, 11-3 for the season, will hold a slight offensive margin over Tusky Valley tomorrow night, but the Trojans' defensive exploits far offset that advantage. Gnadenhutten has averaged 65.2 points a game to Tusky Valley's 59.8, but the Trojans hold the defensive edge, 48.4 to 59.1. Tusky Valley has lost only to Midvale in 12 starts this season. Individually, it appears now that Gnadenhutten's Ron Bradley has practically clinched the league scoring title. Allthough he was "checked" with 18 points by Midvale last Friday night, the Gnaden Senior still is averaging 28.6 points going into his final start. His 200 points top runnerup John Rice of Baltic by 74. The Baltic Junior returnee has 116 points with two games left.
