An overflow crowd is expected tonight for the semi-finals of the Tuscarawas County Class "A" Basketball Tournament at Memorial Hall. Providing all the excitement will be the top four finishers in regular Class "A" League action this season. Champion Midvale (17-1), their ninth since 1936, will clash with third-place Gnadenhutten (14-6) in the opener at 7, while second-place Tusky Valley (18-1) battles fourth-place Garaway (13-8) in the windup of the big program at 8:45. And on the basis of past performances the two contests must be considered tossups. During regular play Midvale spilt with Gnadenhutten, losing on its floor 78-76, while topping the Tribe 70-63 on the Indians' home court. Tusky Valley downed Garaway twice during the season, but the two victories were only by a total six-point margin. The Trojans took the first 45-42 and the second 55-52. Out of the two games will come Tuscarawas County's two representatives to the sectional tournament at Memorial Hall next week. Tomorrow night's action will pit the two winners in the finale of the 37th annual meet. Game time is 8.
