Midvale's Blue Devils should be champions of the Tuscarawas County Class "A" League for the second straight season when the loop concludes action February 6. The once-beaten Blue Devils, who haven't lost in seven league contests, have only Port Washington standing in the way to their second successive clean-record campaign. And judging by the records, Midvale should have little difficulty in disposing of the Purple Riders when they meet on the final program. Port, a 61-51 victim of the Devils December 30, hasn't won any of six loop starts. Midvale (7-0) (13-1) disposed of Strasburg (1-6) (4-11) 73-53, while Port Washington (0-6) (3-12) suffered a 76-66 setback at the hands of Tuscarawas (2-4) (5-8). Meanwhile, Gnadenhutten's Indians (6-2) (11-4), knocked off from the top perch in a 70-63 loss to Midvale last week, fell out of further title consideration by losing a 65-43 decision at Tuscarawas Valley (5-1) (12-1). Tuscarawas Valley kept its title ambitions alive in the victory. Should Port Washington spring an upset and Tuscarawas Valley win in closing matches with Tuscasrawas and Baltic, the Trojans could gain a title share. Garaway (4-3) (10-6) woved into undisputed possession of fourth place in the league by winning the loop's other game last night, 59-45 over Stone Creek (2-5) (9-8). Baltic (3-3) (9-7) was idle in loop competition. Midvale's lone loss came on December 16 by Gnadenhutten 78-76. The Devils are working on a 7-game win streak. Tuscarawas Valley has lost only to Midvale in its season.
