Tuscarawas County now has four scholastic basketball performers with more than 300 points for the season. Four more need less than 10 points to top that figure. The latest to join what certainly could be termed an "elite" group are Tuscarawas' fine Junior veteran, Gary Caviness, and another Junior, Baltic's Gary Gerber. Caviness fired in 74 points in two games last week to hoist his season aggregate to 322 points while Gerber collected 36 in the same number of games to bring his total to 307. Already well above the 300 mark are Gnadenhutten's Ron Bradley and Baltic's John Rice. Bradley now has 399 points and Rice has collected 360. Just below the 300-mark are Stone Creek's Jim McAfee with 296, Tuscarawas Valley's Ben Price with 294, Port Washington's Bill Phillips with 293, and Midvale's Ron Breniser with 291. Both Bradley and Price received boosts when W.E. Laws, county superintendent of schools, verified that Alumni games should be counted in team records. The additon gave Price 18 points and Bradley 17.
