The semi-final field in the 37th Annual Tuscarawas County Class "A" League Basketball Tournament will be completed tonight during second-night action at Memorial Hall. Stone Creek (13-8), a 67-41 victor over Strasburg (6-13) Tuesday night, will battle seeded Gnadenhutten (13-6) in the opener of a 2-game program at 7:30. Seeded Garaway (12-8) will oppose Port Washington (3-16) in the nightcap at 8:45. The winners will join Midvale (17-1) will provide the opposition for the winner of the Stone Creek-Gnadenhutten contest and Tuscarawas Valley (18-1) awaits the Garaway-Port Washington victor. On the basis of regular-season play, the Stone Creek-Gnadenhutten game must be considered a toss-up, but Garaway gets the edge against Port Washington. Stone Creek and Gnadenhutten split in a home-and-home series during the regular season. Gnadenhutten won 62-60 at home December 19 and Stone Creek took a 76-74 verdict on its home court February 3. Garaway threw an 86-42 defeat into Port Washington December 5. Gnadenhutten will pin its hope of victory on the high-scoring Ron Bradley who tops all county schoolboy pointmakers with 501 for the season. He scored 36 and 33 in earlier Stone Creek meetings. Jim McAfee is the spearhead of the Stone Creek attack with 377 points and Harold Lahmers is next with 267. Garaway has a 1-2-3 punch in Charley Stingel, Larry Yakley and Koran Zehnder, while diminutive Bill Phillips (5-5) has been the bright ray in an otherwise Port Washington campaign. Phillips has collected 383 points.
