Tuscarawas County's Class "A" Basketball ranks can boast one of the highest scoring groups in recent history. Four more schoolboy cagers surpassed the 300-point mark last week, bringing to eight the number past that mark this season. The most recent additions to the "elite" are Ben Price of Tuscarawas Valley, Jim McAfee of Stone Creek, Bill Phillips of Port Washington and Ron Breniser of Midvale. Price pushed his season total to 339 in last week's contests, McAfee now has 317 for the year, Phillips has tossed in 327 and Breniser has accounted for 312. Two of the previous four club members have gone on to soar above the 400-point mark. Gnadenhutten's Ron Bradley now has 443 for the campaign and Baltic's John Rice has 408. Other previous members of the 300-point group were Gary Gerber of Baltic and Gary Caviness of Tuscarawas. Two more performers - Charley Stingel and Larry Yakley of Garaway - should top the 300-point this week. Stingel has 292 and Yakley 284. Tuscarawas Valley's Trojans and Midvale's blue Devils continued as the county's winningest clubs last week. The Trojans now have won 15 of 16, while Midvale has been victorious in 14 of 15.
