PORT WASHINGTON - Despite the brilliant 30-point effort by Port Washington's pint-sized Bill Phillips, the Stone Creek Panthers (9-7) had little trouble in notching a 62-50 triumph here Tuesday night. Coach Ernie Lukens' invaders pulled down 70 rebounds, while leading the entire route. Stone Creek held 16-10, 30-23 and 45-33 quarter margins in scoring its second win this season over the Purple Riders (3-11). Stone Creek squeezed out an earlier 43-42 nod. Phillips, only a Sophomore, but still a veteran campaigner already, hoisted his season point total to 272 with the outburst. Jim McAfee paced the winners with 23. The Stone Creek Reserves got by the Port Washington Reserves (3-11) 46-37.
