In two County high school baseball games last night, one at Baltic and the other at Sugarcreek, the Sugarcreek Pirates trampled Port Washington's Purple Riders (1-5) 17-0 and the Baltic Eagles trounced the Stone Creek Panthers 10-0. John Goss and Russ Kohler combined to limit the Riders to one hit, a single by Bill Phillips in the 4th. John Goss was the starter and took credit for the win. Leading the Pirate attack was Gene Stevanus who blasted a bases-loaded-homer in the 4th frame when Sugarcreek put across seven runs. John Goss and Charley Stingel batted in three runs each to aid the attack. Ron Phillips was on the mound for the losers and was touched for 13 hits. Another one-hitter was tossed by Bob Lautenslager of Baltic, who gave a hit to Dan Wherley in the 1st inning, gave one walk in the 2nd, and then proceeded to set the next 17 batters down in a row. Bob Lautenslager fanned 14. Losing hurler Harold Baker struck out three and walked eight and permitted eight hits. Sam Jacobs led the Eagle attack with a home run in the 2nd with two men on. Bob Lautenslager and Gary Gerber chipped in with doubles and Gary Berger with a triple.
