LAFFERTY - Port Washington (1-11) set the pace for three quarters last night, but faltered in the stretch and dropped a decision to Lafferty. The Purple Riders raced to a 12-5 first period advantage and held a 29-20 margin at half time. However, Lafferty trimmed the deficit to 37-33 going into the deciding final stanza and grabbed the verdict by outscoring the Tuscarawas Countians 15 to 7 in the last period. Bill Phillips, with 13 points, was the only Purple Rider able to dent the double figure column. Jim McGrey, who hit eight points in the fourth quarter, topped Lafferty with 24. In the Prior Reserve game, Lafferty stomped Port Washington (1-11) 57-28.
