PORT WASHINGTON - Midvale's starting array played only the first half at Port Washington (0-6) (1-15) as the Blue Devils (7-0) (14-2) securely tucked away the league championship with an easy victory, their 12th straight. Port Washington is in sole possession of last place. Russ Hobart and Tom Krocker tallied 20 and 12 points respectively, to pace the Midvale varsity to 23-11 and 48-20 leads at the close of the first two periods. The reserves took over after the midway rest and limited the Riders to eight points the third quarter, while swishing 13 for a 61-28 lead at the far turn. In the fourth stanza, the Blue Devils dunked 23 points to 14 for the losers. Don Hanlon scored 13 and Ron Kaderly 10 during the second half for Midale as 12 Blue Devils joined in the scoring parade. Ron and Bill Phillips again topped Port Washington with 11 and 10 respectively. Midvale Graders began the night's sweep by beating the Port Washington Graders (4-6) 45-29. The Midvale Reserves then beat the Port Washington Reserves (1-15) 67-36.
