MALVERN - Behind 24-7 after only one quarter, the Port Washington Purple Riders (1-16) were never in contention here last night and finished on the short end of a 74-47 count for their 16th loss in 17 games. The host Green Hornets were on top 34-22 at halftime and had a comfortable 54-31 advantage at the close of the third period. Ron Whittington once again sparked the Malvern attack with 34 points, while Bill and Ron Phillips caged 20 and 15 respectively for Port Washington. Earlier in the Reserve game, it was Malvern 34 - Port Washington (1-16) 12.
