Nipped by one point in their opener at Freeport Wednesday night, the Gnadenhutten Indians (1-1) smashed into the victory column with a 71-47 romp at Port Washington last night. The setback was the first start for the Purple Riders (0-1). With a three-pronged scoring attack led by Tom Roth, Ron Bradley and Larry Gooding, the Indians of Coach Dick Scott were never in trouble as they coasted to margins of 19-9, 36-21 and 53-37 at the rest stops. Tom Roth led the victors' basket barrage with 11 fielders for 22 points, while Ron Bradley chipped in with 19 points and Larry Gooding added 18. Coach Bill Oppenheimer's Purple Riders, handicapped by lack of experienced veterans and height, were topped by LeRoy Davies who tallied 17 points, while Ron Phillips contributed 10. In the Reserve game it was Gnadenhutten 56 - Port Washington (0-1) 38. The Grader game was won by Port Washington (1-0) 36-35 over Gnadenhutten.
