Malvern's Green Hornets were about an hour late arriving at Port Washington (0-3) because of the snow, but they thawed out quickly and chalked up a 65-54 victory over the host Purple Riders. Although they had three cagers scoring in double figures, the Riders bowed for the third time in as many starts as Bill Whittington paced Malvern with 26 points and John Maske added 14. Port Washington, trailing at the rest stops by 18-13, 33-23 and 46-36, crept to within two points of the invaders midway in the final period before the rally folded. LeRoy Davies paced the Purple Riders with 19 points, while Bill Phillips caged 12 and John Landon chimed in with 10. The Port Washington Reserves (1-2) picked up their first win by dropping the Malvern Reserves 42-38.
