Wainwright Midgets Gain League Lead (6-25-55)

Wainwright (3-1) regained the lead in the Tuscarawas County Midget League this past week as Sandy Bonvechio hurled a perfect, no-hit, no-run contest. Wainwright defeated Port Washington (1-3) 11-0 behind Bonvcchio's perfect performance and Midvale (1-3) handed Gnadenhutten (2-1) its first defeat 7-6. Bonvecchio fanned 11 Port batters and faced only 18 in the six-inning contest to chalk up the triumph. Jim Grant had a double and a single and Dennis McCahill had two singles to pace Wainwright's attack. With Jim Albaugh posting a victory the first time he pitched, Midvale nipped Gnadenhutten. Albaugh allowed six hits while Struchen, the losing hurler, gave up seven safeties. Next week, Tusky (2-1) is at Gnadenhutten and Midvale at Wainwright in Tuesday games with Port Washington open.
