Bolivar's Cardinals may not be setting the county afire on the basketball court, but today boast the top point-maker in Class B ranks in Ken (Bobo) Haueter. Haueter, one of several juniors on the Card varsity, is leading the race by virtue of a percentage point over Paul Lindsay of Mineral City's Tigers. While Haueter has tallied 145 points in six contests for a 24.1 average, the Mineral City standout is averaging 24 even with 144 markers in as many games. Four other lads from county league teams are averaging at least 20 points per start and three of them are juniors, Ronnie Deibel, the Stone Creek forward, holds down third place with a 22.6 mark followed by Ed Bates of Port Washington with 21.0 and Don Levengood of Dundee with 20.8. Levengood, the only senior among the quartet, has accounted for 125 points in six games, Leggett 147 in seven, Bates 148 in seven and Deibel 181 in eight. Bates, Leggett and Deibel are juniors. Barely under the 20-point mark are Jim Kuecher of Strasburg averaging 19.3 per game and Larry Swinderman of Midvale 19.8. The Strasburg reliable has chalked up 116 points in six frays while Swinderman has canned 139 in seven. Other high-ranking scorers are as follows: Kieth Gerber, Sugarcreek-Shanesville, 6 games 110 points; Jim Uher, Baltic 7 games 115 points; Ted Riggle, Tuscarawas, 5 games 81 points; Ben Price, Mineral City 7 games 93 points; Glen Hines, Gnadenhutten, 8 games 125 points; Jerry Froman, Strasburg, 5 games 75 points; Glen Reidenbach, Baltic, 7 games 109 points; Regula, Baltic, 7 games 110 points.
