Ed Bates and Bill McConnell set a fast pace for Port Washington (1-1) (3-1) with 25 and 23 points, respectively, as Coach Bray Toot's Purple Riders downed the spunky Bolivar Cardinals (0-2) (0-4). Coach Ray Low's Cards stayed with the rangler Riders for two periods, trailing by only 37-28 at halftime, before faltering in the third quarter as Port rang up 25 points to only 10 for the host club. Nick Frank added 18 points to the Purple Rider total as they won their third game in four starts and first in two league contests. Scoring laurels for the game went to Bolivar's Dave Wolfe who rimmed 30 points on 12 fielders and six free throws. Bolivar has now dropped all four of its contests and two league frays. The Port Washington Reserve (4-0) team stopped the Bolivar Reserves 36-32 to streak to their fourth straight win.
