With Ed Bates rattling the rims for 13 fielders and a free throw for 27 points, the Port Washington Purple Riders (1-1) (4-1) had little difficulty at Malvern last night as they romped to a victory over the host Green Hornets. Coach Bray Toot's quint had a commanding 15-5 first period margin and led 32-27 at half time and 52-43 going into the final frame en route to its fourth triumph in five outings. Bill McConnell with 15 points followed Bates in the well-balanced Port offense while Ed Beach and Pete Everhart, with 18 and 14 points, respectively, topped the Malvern scoring. The Port Washington Reserves (5-0) maintained their winning streak by running over the Malvern Reserves 42-19. * * PORT WASHINGTON PURPLE RIDERS 77 * Ed Bates 13-1-27 Bob Welsch 3-3-9 Bob Glazer 2-2-6 Nick Frank 2-4-8 Bill McConnell 7-1-15 Tom Jones 6-0-12 * * MALVERN GREEN HORNETS * Ed Beach 6-4-16 McCollister 4-1-9 Benedict 3-3-9 Pete Everhart 6-2-14 Simmons 0-2-2 Ferguson 3-0-6 * * * Wednesday, December 7, 1955 The Daily Reporter Dover, Ohio
