Strasburg Regains First (1-21-56)

THE BATTLE FOR the regular season championship in the Tuscarawas County Class B League was a three-way affair after Strasburg (7-0) moved back in a tie with Midvale (7-0) for first place and Gnadenhutten (6-1) took a firmer grip on the No. 3 slot last night. The Bengals from Strasburg, with Jim Kuecher and Jerry Froman igniting the attack, notched their seventh consecutive league victory 79-57 over Stone Creek (2-5), while Gnaden (6-1), beaten only once, handed Sugarcreek-Shanesville (5-3) it's third loss by a 79-54 count. Port Washington (4-3) going over the century mark for the second straight time, moved above the .500 mark as it thumped Baltic (2-5) 103-73, while the Tuscarawas Broncos (4-4)smacked down Dundee (0-8) 80-66 and Bolivar (2-5) avenged a previous setback at the hands of Mineral City (1-8), 59-49. The next league card is scheduled for Friday, January 27 when Baltic appears at Tuscarawas, Stone Creek at Bolivar, Strasburg at Sugarcreek, Port at Mineral City and Midvale and Gnadenhutten fight it out at the Middle lair. Midvale was idle last night.
