Raiders Hit Century 4th Time 104-84 (1-28-56)
A Total of 188 points was registered in the scorebooks at Mineral City last night when the Raiders of Port Washington (5-3) (11-5) decisioned the Tigers (2-6) (2-14) thanks to a big first half assault on the nets. Port, with Ed Bates and Tom Jones as the shining lights, led 28-22 after one quarter and then blitzed the cords for 38 points in the second frame and took a 64-41 advantage into its dressing room at intermission. Mineral, led by Paul Lindsay and Ben Price, outscored the visitors 43-40 in the second half, but couldn't climb into contention. Ed Bates, who made 26 markers in the first half, ended with 38, six more than Lindsey, who garnered 32 in three periods. He went scoreless in the third stanza. Hitting on his pet jump shot Ed Bates collected 17 goals and four fouls. Tom Jones had 25 markers, while Ben Price canned 26. The Port Washington Reserves (13-2) continued to be hot by beating up the Mineral City Reserves 64-36.
