Wainwright Midgets Cop Title (7-27-55)

Wainwright (10-2) clinched its third straight County Midget League baseball title last night by blanking Midvale (2-9) 14-0 on the latter's diamond. Sandy Bonvechio starred on the mound for the champions, allowing only a single by Tom Reese in the 4th. He whiffed 16 and walked only one. Hitting stars for Wainwright were Rich Brown with two homers, Bonvechio with a homer and single and Sonny Edie with a homer. The loss was charged to Corkey Leggett, who was hammered for 13 safeties. He fanned seven and walked one. A battle for the second place position will be staged tonight by Gnadenhutten (7-3) and Tuscarawas (6-4) at Tusky (THIS GAME WAS NEVER REPORTED). An All-Star game will be played Saturday night at 8 at Gnadenhutten. The Midget League will begin tourney play August 4 at Gnadenhutten.
