At a recent meeting of the Tuscarawas County Athletic Association the following officers were elected: President, Supt. Clarence Troyer of Baltic; vice president, Supt. M.R. Helwick of Strasburg, and secretary, Supt. C.M. Zimmerman of Sugarcreek-Shanesville. In preparing plans for county sports events this year, Mr. Troyer was delegated as manager of the Baseball League and Spring tournament. Supt. Joseph Carlisle of Warwick Local School District was appointed to again manage the county track meet next May 9. County Supt. W.E. Laws, was retained as manager of the Tuscarawas County Basketball Tournament, at Memorial Hall, here February 13, 15, 20 and 22. Some changes are under way in the handling of both the track meet and the basketball tournament. The preliminary hosts of the track meet will be held during the afternoon, beginning at 2:30. And the final run-offs will be scheduled that evening under the lights, making it possible for a greater number of spectators to attend. The consolation games of the county basketball tournament have been dropped, largely because of the decline in number of schools participating. Owing to the closing of Dundee High, Tuscarawas County can now send only two teams in the sectional tournament.
