Baltic Wins 11-0 At Port (9-10-57)

In the fall season opener of the County High School Baseball League, the Baltic Eagles (1-0) walloped the Port Washington Purple Riders (0-1) 11-0 on the winners' field. Going the distance for the Eagles was John Rice who permitted but two singles, fanned 12 and walked eight. Leading the winners' 10-hit attack against John Landon was Clarence Campbell (1-0) with a double, the only extra-base hit of the game, and a single to drive in four runs. Jerry Berger had three singles. The loser, John Landon (0-1), struck out one and walked four. Port's two hits were garnered by Bill Fisher and Tom Gardner. The Eagles opened the game with two runs in the 1st and then in the 4th blasted John Landon for six markers.
