Midvale's revenge victory over Port Washington was extremely convincing as the Blue Devils (4-5) (9-9) atoned for a previous one-point setback by plastering the Purple Riders (4-5) (11-7) by a margin of 27 points. Coach Jim Pfeiffer's Riders started out as though to repeat the triumph and were on top 17-16 at the first break. However, Ed Bates was the only Port Washington cager able to score the second frame, tallying his team's entire 11 points as the Blue Devils swished 19 for a 35-28 half time advantage. Dick Leggett found the range for nine points the third period to spark Coach Pete Hilliard's Devils to a 58-42 margin and the game was blown wide open the fourth quarter as Dick Leggett and John Colombo each netted 11 points. Dick Leggett finished the game as individual pacesetter with 30 points, while Ed Bates was close behind as he led Port with 27. John Colombo added 23 to the winning effort, while Jim Emler and Denver Glazer hit 12 and 11, respectively, for the losers. The victory was the third straight for Midvale. Gary Haney was a standout for the Blue Devils with his board work, being credited with grabbing 29 rebounds. It was a grand sweep for Midvale as they won all three games. In the reserve game, it was Midvale 47, Port Washington (5-10) 29. In the grade game, it was Midvale 58, Port Washington (3-3) 43.
