The Tuscarawas Valley Trojans (16-4) proved that they will be a hard team to beat last night as four players tallied in the double figures and the Trojans took the comparatively easy decision from Port Washington (12-8). After the cagers of Coach Raymond (Sucker) Low held a 16-10 first quarter lead they were never in trouble and strengthened their margin with the end of each quarter. Sophomore Ben Price and Ken (BoBo) Haueter provided the rebound strength, while scoring 20 and 16 points, respectively, but the sharp-shooting of Davey Jo Wolf led the power Trojan offense with 24 points as he hit well from outside and also led a potent fast break. Ed Bates put on a terrific show for the Purple Riders, but to no avail, as he blazed the nets for 32 points to take scoring honors for the evening. Denver Glazer and Gary Hannahs followed with 11 and 10 points, respectively for the losers also. The Trojans jumped to a ten point, 35-25 lead by intermission as a tight defense held the usually hot shooting Port to only 15 points. Scoring 25 points themselves the winners rolled on to a 60-41 margin going into the final turn and coasted to the victory, but still hit for 28 more points. The victory moves Port into the consolation bracket.
