The Baltic Eagles (3-0) and the Gnadenhutten Indians (2-0) will square off Thursday at 4PM at the Sugarcreek Park diamond for the county baseball championship following action last night. The Eagles moved into the finals on the fine two-hit pitching of Glen Reidenbach as they shutout Port Washington (0-1) 11-0 while Gnadenhutten copped an 8-4 victory over Midvale (1-1). Port Washington and Midvale will also clash on Thursday for the third berth in the Class A County Sectional tourney slated to start May 4. Both Baltic and Gnaden earned spots in the section. Glen Reidenbach fanned 12 batsmen en route to the victory, while walking only two. Jerry Hannahs was charged with the loss as he gave up nine hits for 11 runs and walked seven in 6 and one third innings. Dale Combs relieved Jerry Hannahs in the final frame and retired the side. Freshman John Rice was the big man at the plate as he led the attack with two triples. Jonas Miller and Glen Reidenbach each collected two singles, while Gary Berger, Bob Schlabach and Sam Jacobs rapped out singles. The Eagles raced three runs across in the first inning and after adding single markers in the third and fourth frames, exploded for six big runs in the sixth inning. Larry Clark, a fast man on the basketball court too, fanned 13 Blue Devils in registering the victory, while allowing seven hits. Lonnie Wolfe started on the hill for Coach Pete Hilliard's crew and was relieved by Dick Leggett in the third. The duo allowed nine hits and had six strike outs. The Devils committed three errors, while the Indians had one miscue. Lonnie Flup led the Devils with a double, while Steve Hamilton collected two singles to pace the victors.
