Strasburg's "Terrific" Tigers and Stone Creek's "Clawing" Panthers grabbed the spotlight in last night's action in the Tuscarawas County Class A Basketball League. Strasburg virtually sewed up its fifth straight league championship and chalked up its 48th consecutive loop victory by squeezing past powerful Port Washington 56-51 on the Purple Riders court. It was the eighth loop win without a setback this year for the Bengals of Coach Chuck Caniford which has only one more contest to play in league action. Stone Creek finished out the season with one of its best regular season records of 16 wins and only four losses, while also copping a share of second place honors in the league by blasting Baltic 84-62. The Panthers are tied for second with Gnadenhutten which ended its season last Tuesday night. Both have a 7-2 loop record. In other contests Midvale walked all over Sugarcreek 84-36, but changed the lower standings very little, while Tuscarawas Valley trounced Dundee 107-48 and gained a tie for fourth spot with Baltic. The two teams will meet to settle the fourth place position next Friday night.
