Thirty-eight victories against only three losses! That's the enviable 2-year record of the Midvale Blue Devils and their coach, hard-working Pete Hilliard, as of the moment. In fact, it's one of the better Class "A" records in Ohio. In roaring to their second straight County Class "A" Basketball League crown and county tourney title, for which they received The Daily Reporter trophy, the Blue Devils racked up 19 wins, but with only a loss to Gnadenhutten marring their record. Last year Midvale had a 19-2 record. It lost to West Lafayette and Strasburg during the regular campaign and then swept through the county event. However, the Blue Devils were eliminated by Gnadenhutten in the sectional opener here.

Also, before closing the book on county play, Bob Heller of Dover, the Tuscarawas Valley High mentor, received a coveted salute from his fellow league mentors when selected as "Coach of the Year." It isn't often such honors comes to a coach in just two years. But Heller, who left an assistant post at Dover High to take the Trojan reigns, took a fair club and molded it into an aggressive team which now has an 18-2 mark, both defeats being administered by Midvale.
