SUGARCREEK - Garaway's Pirates came up with a big 7-run third inning to roll past Stone Creek 10-3 in the opening round of the Tuscarawas County Baseball Tournament yesterday.

The Bucs batted around in the inning with Dale Bieininger, who went four-for-four for the day, leading the way with a double and single. Larry Yakley and Koran Zehnder doubled, while Tom Andreas singled. The Pirates also had a walk, fielders choice and an eror in the big frame. All of Stone Creek's hits were singles. The Panthers put enough together in the final frame to score all of their runs, thus averting a shutout. Charles Stingel was the winning moundsman, whiffing 12 and walking 8. Jim McAfee handled the hill chores for the losers. He fanned 8 and walked 2.

Garaway thus won a quarter finals berth opposite Port Washington next Monday at 4:15, while on the same day Baltic meets Tuscarawas Valley. Today's county tourney action saw Strasburg slated to go against Gnadenhutten and Midvale booked against Tuscarawas.
