Midvale and Billiant, both of whom are known by the nickname of Blue Devils, will launch the Dover Class "A" District Scholastic Basketball Tournament in Memorial Hall tonight at 8. Hiland's Hawks and the Conotton Valley Rockets will clash at 8PM Tuesday to conclude semi-final activity. Those were the results of drawings held here Sunday afternoon. The two winners will battle Friday night at 8 for the tournament championship and a berth in next week's Regional warfare at Canton's Memorial Fieldhouse. Friday night's runner-up will not be left out in the cold. It will return to action Saturday night in Dennison High School gymnasium against a runner-up quintet from the Marietta District event, also in progress this week. The victor there will also qualify for the Canton regional test. According to State and District athletic board regulations, the two winners from the Dover Sectional and the Brillian Sectional could not meet in first-round competition in the District meet. Conotton Valley drew the lower bracket and Brilliant, of course, took the upper berth. The draw between Midvale and Hiland saw the Blue Devils take the upper bracket pill and Hiland the lower bracket. Midvale and Hiland qualified for this week's District meet by winning honors in the Sectional meet here last week. Midvale nipped Killbuck 84-83 in a sudden-death overtime clash Saturday night, while Hiland advanced Friday night with a last-second 55-53 win over Tuscasrawas Valley. Conotton Valley and Brilliant advanced from the Sectional meet at Brilliant. The former moved up a notch by defeating Dillonvale 67-57 and the latter progressed by whipping Centerville 61-54. Midvale (20-1) is from Tuscarawas County, Hiland (20-2) from Holmes County, Conotton Valley (16-6) from Harrison County and Brilliant (15-8) from Jefferson County.
