59 - Garaway's Stingel Tosses One-Hitter Against Port Nine 11-1 (9-26-58)

Behind the one-hit hurling of Charley Stingel, the Garaway Pirates (4-1) topped Port Washington (1-4) 11-1 in a Tuscarawas County Baseball game yesterday. Stingel whiffed 12 and walked eight in copping the verdict, while his teammates touched Port moundsman Jim Bender for 11 hits. Leading the way was Larry Yakley with a single and triple. Dan Blienniger, three singles and Tom Andrews two singles. Bill Phillips had the lone hit for the losers. The losers scored their lone run on a walk, two wild pitches and an infield grounder.

BRADLEY TOSSES TWO-HIT VICTORY OVER STONE CREEK - Behind the two-hit pitching of ace righthander Ron Bradley the Gnadenhutten Indians (5-0) racked up their fifth straight victory in the County Baseball League last night as they dumped Stone Creek (0-5) 7-2. Bradley had 16 strike outs, while walking six. Jim McAfee was the losing hurler and was touched for nine hits. He whiffed three and walked one. Terry Sauser had a triple, while Larry Stephan collected the Panthers other hit. The Indians tallied six times in the first and added a single marker in the fourth, while Stone Creek avoided a shut out when it scored two runs in the fourth. Dave Struchen, John Hall and Bill Horsfall led the winners at the plate with two hits apiece. Both Struchen's went for extra bases, one a double and the other a triple. Bradley also collected a two bagger.
