STONE CREEK - Terry Sauser, 5-10 forward, sank two foul shots with 45 seconds remaining to play to give Stone Creek's Panthers (1-0) (2-0) a 43-42 victory over invading Port Washington (0-1) (0-1) in a County League game here last night. Sauser's free throws made the score 43-40, but Port's John Landon came back to hit from the field once for the final gap. The Purple Riders had an opportunity to go ahead in the final seven seconds, but lost possession of the ball. The Riders of new coach Tom Davies tied the game at 34-34 at the end of the third period when the Panthers garnered only one point after leading 33-32 at half time. Stone Creek's superior height proved to be the difference and Coach Ernie Lukens' crew came out with its second victory of the campaign. Bill Phillips of the Riders ended with scoring laurels when he hit for seven fielders and five fouls for 19 points. Jim McAfee led Stone Creek with 15, while Terry Sauser chipped in with 12. The Panthers had an extremely poor night from the field when they hit only 15 times in 68 action tries for 22 percent. Port Washington is currently on a 10 game losing streak dating back to January 8th of this year after they beat Conesville by one point 53-52 in the 1957-1958 Season. They haven't won a league game dating back to the 1957 season. Today's league game was their 11th straight. The Port Washington Reserves (1-0) just got by the Stone Creek Reserves 27-26.
