59 - Midvale-Stone Creek Clash Is "A" Feature (12-11-58)

One of the four undefeated Tuscarawas County Class "A" Basketball League teams is bound to drop from the elite class tomorrow night when the loop moves into action with a four-game program. The unbeaten team to go, insofar as league records are concerned, will be either Midvale (2-0) (5-0) or Stone Creek (2-0) (4-1). The two clubs, scheduled to meet at Stone Creek, both have captured two league decisions to date. Midvale will have a little more incentive for victory. The Blue Devils have gone unbeaten in five season starts to date, wrapping up No. 5 Tuesday night in a non-league fracas at Strasburg. Stone Creek enters the big battle with a 4-1 season record. Gnadenhutten (3-0) (5-2) and Tuscasrawas Valley (1-0) (4-0), the other unbeaten loop teams, also will be in action tomorrow night. Gnadenhutten will be after its fourth straight league success when it invades Port Washington (0-3) (0-4). Tusky Valley will be after win No. 2 when it plays host to Garaway (1-1) (3-3). In other action, Strasburg (0-2) (1-4) invades Tuscarawas (0-2) (0-4) for a clash which will produce the first loop win for either club. Both have lost two straight league decisions to date. Ron Bradley, Gnadenhutten's veteran forward, has taken an early lead in the individual league scoring race. In statistics compiled by The Daily Reporter sports department, Bradley has ripped the nets for 81 points in three league contests. John Rice of Baltic, who is idle in league competition this week, is runnerup with 57. Rice tops all County Class A scorers for the season with 194 points.
