Gnadenhutten, Midvale and Tuscarawas Valley continued unbeaten in Tuscarawas County Class A Basketball League play Friday night, while Stone Creek fell from the undefeated ranks. Gnadenhutten (4-0) (6-2) waltzed to its fourth straight loop success in a 72-45 victory over winless Port Washington (0-4) (0-5), Midvale (3-0) (6-0) chalked up its third loop win by dumping previously-unbeaten Stone Creek (2-1) (4-2) in a 45-42 thriller, and Tusky Valley (2-0) (5-0) notched its third league conquest with a 55-52 squeeze against Garaway (1-2) (3-4). Tuscarawas (1-2) (1-4) chalked up its initial league victory by upending Strasburg (0-3) (1-5) 69-43. Midvale and Tusky Valley not only continued unbeaten in league play, but they managed to improve their season standing. The Blue Devils of Coach Pete Hilliard have been extremely fortunate in loop activity. They have won their three starts by a total of only seven points. Midvale nipped Garaway 54-52 and Baltic 73-71 in previous loop games. The victory for Tuscarawas, its first of the season, was the first over a Strasburg team since 1954. The loss left Strasburg without a victory in league competition.
