59 - County League Frays Bear Watching Friday (12-18-58)

There'll be plenty of interest in tomorrow night's four-game card in the Tuscarawas County Class "A" Basketball League. All of the league's unbeaten quintets - Gnadenhutten (4-0) (7-2), Midvale (3-0) (6-1) and Tuscarawas Valley (2-0) (6-0) - will be active and they may be pressed to win. Gnadenhutten is at home to Stone Creek (2-1) (4-3), Midvale entertains Tuscarawas (1-2) (2-4) and Tuscarawas Valley will play host to Strasburg (0-3) (2-5). Garaway (1-2) (4-4) and Baltic (1-2) (4-6) will battle at Baltic in the fourth contest. Gnadenhutten will bank its victory hopes on the high-scoring Ron Bradley who has amassed 115 points in the Indians' four loop wins to date. He also tops all county scorers with 231 points for the entire season. Gary Caviness, who ranks second to Bradley in league action with 72 points, will be Tuscarawas' big hope as the Broncos seek to upset Midvale. The Blue Devils lost a 78-76 non-league decision to Gnadenhutten Tuesday night for their first loss after six victories. Diminutive Bill Phillips of Port Washington is in third place in the league scoring race with 63 points. Aside from Bradley and Caviness, who have averaged 28.8 and 24.0 per game in league play, Tusky Valley's Ben Price and Roy Buchanan also are skimming along above the 20-point mark. Price has averaged 22.0 points a game, Buchanan 20.5.
