Stone Creek's Panthers (1-6) came up with their first win of the Fall baseball campaign yesterday when they edged Port Washington (1-5) 3-2. Terry Sauser provide the fireworks for the Panthers when he singled in the winning runs in the second inning. Mel McAfee handled the mound chores for the winners, whiffing seven and walking four. Port Washington, which scored both its runs in the first frame on two singles and two errors, had Jim Bender on the mound. He struck out 10 and issued four free passes. Melvin Brick paced the losers at the plate with three hits in as many times at bat. The Panthers will conclude their season Monday night at home when they entertain Baltic (2-3).

GARAWAY DOWNS BALTIC NINE 6-1 - Garaway's Pirates boosted its record to 6-1 in the County Baseball League yesterday with a 6-1 verdict over Baltic (2-4). Charles Stingel tossed the victory, fanning 14 and walking six. He also contributed two hits. John Rice was charged with the loss. He struck out seven and walked as many. The Pirates wind up their Fall play next Thursday when they travel to Gnadenhutten.
