The tall veterans from Tuscarawas Valley (1-0) (1-0) proved too much for the Seniorless Port Washington Purple Riders (0-2) (0-3) after the first quarter. The Riders of Coach Tom Davies stayed right with the Trojans through the first period and after leading for a short time, fell short at the stop 12-11. From then on the height of the TV squad of Coach Bob Heller took its toll. The Trojans boomed out to 37-18 and 49-29 leads at the next stops. Ben Price, 6-5 forward for the Trojans, led the winning attack with 20 points, while another veteran, Roy Buchanan, chimed in with 19 and Chuck Locker contributed 12. Port Captain John Landon paced the Riders with 16 points, while Larry Hagan added 10 to the cause. The Port Washington Reserves (1-2) met the same fate, as the Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (1-0) dusted off Port 48-34.
