ROSCOE - Defense was tossed out the window here last night as the Roscoe Tigers (6-2) and the Port Washington Purple Riders (4-4) waged a torried scoring duel. Denver Glazer finally ended the struggle as he broke loose for a layup at the buzzer to give the Riders the decision. Ed Bates, who led both teams with 33 points, scored 18 in the fast first quarter which ended with Port Washington on top 33-24. Roscoe then took over 52-50 and 68-65 at the end of the next two quarters before the hectic final stanza. Denver Glazer followed Ed Bates with 16 points for the Riders, while Nick Frank added 12. Roscoe was paced by Ron Barrick and Bob Wright with 23 points each. Ron Barrick had previously been averaging 33 points per game. The Port Washington Reserve team (4-2) picked up their second straight win by defeating the Roscoe Reserves 46-38.
