Gnaden Gains 2nd Spot (1-26-57)

The Stone Creek high basketball team was the villian in last night's action in the Tuscarawas County Class A Basketball League. The Panthers stopped the powerful Tuscarawas Valley Trojans 55-40 and dropped the latter into fifth spot, while gaining third place themselves. The Trojans were in second place last week with a 4-1 record, while Stone Creek was in fourth place with a 4-2 mark. The Baltic Eagles gained a tie for third with Stone Creek by waltzing past Tuscarawas to the tune of 80-53. Strasburg remained in first place with a resounding 97-47 win over Sugarcreek. The victory was the sixth straight this year and the 47th straight loop verdict in the last five years. Gnadenhutten's Indians, in third place last week, edged past Midvale 87-81 and with the help of Stone Creek shuffled into second place. The tribe has a 6-2 record in the circuit and has only to meet Tuscarawas Valley to finish out county league play.
