Port Washington (1-2)(5-4) trailed 20-19 at the end of the opening period, but Ed Bates and Denver Glazer shifted the Purple Riders into high gear to romp to their triumph. The Pirates (1-2) were limited to only seven points the second stanza as the Riders took over 37-27 and then proceeded to post a 56-43 margin at the end of the third period. After tallying 12 points the first half, Ed Bates burned the nets for an additional 24 markers the last two quarters to finish the contest with 36 points. Teammate Denver Glazer gave a strong helping hand with 22, while Jerry Hannahs added 15. Three Pirates were also in double figures as Gordon Gerber hit 16, Merle Clum 14 and Bill Gerber 12. The Port Washington Reserves (5-2) won another game 38-36 against the Sugarcreek Reserves. The Port Washington Graders (1-1) dropped a 47-34 game versus the Sugarcreek Graders for their first lost of the year.
