61 - Uhrichsville Stops Tusky Valley In Their Tracks 78-53 (1-4-61)

BOLIVAR - Uhrichsville's Tigers (4-2) bounced back onto the victory trail here last night, defeating the host Tuscarawas Valley Trojans (5-2).  The win ended a 2-game losing streak for the Bengals and the loss brought to an end TV's 3-game victory streak.  Paced by the rapid and sure fire shooting of Tom Davis, the leading Class "AA" scorer in the county, the Tigers  moved to  leads of 9-5, 25-13 and 54-36 at the quarter stops.  Davis ended the night with 24 points for game laurels.  Rod Cropper, of the Trojans, came up with his finest performance of the campaign when he led his teammates with 18 points, 5 more than he had  totaled in their previous 6 contests.  But at the same time Uhrichsville  limited Trojan scoring ace Jim Studer to 8 points, his low of the season.  Studer's previous point lows stood at 13 points in each of the the games with Dalton and Garaway.  Backing up the Uhrichsville attack were Rick Norman with 18 points, Nick McBride with 17 and Harry (Butch) Watkins with 10.  Ron  Lake added 15 and Mike Widder 10 points for the Trojans.  In the third quarter Tuscarawas Valley pulled within 3 points of the well-knit Tiger unit, but couldn't find enough of an offensive to overcome the Bengal lead and was out-pointed 29-23 in the high-scoring stanza.  The Tigers connected 31 times in 68 attempts from the field for 45 percent, while Tusky Valley meshed only 18 of 56 goals for 32 percent.  Tusky Valley made 17 of 26 free throws and Uhrichsville made 16 of 22 charity tosses.  The Uhrichsville Reserves also won their game with the Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (2-5) 42-33.
